Microplane Grater Zester Review
I think the Microplane Grater Zester is the only kitchen utensil that I have, and also resides in my dads workshop . It is such a universal tool, I use it almost every day grating chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange and and lemon zest.
I found the Microplane Grater Zester at its most usefull when grating hard cheeses such as parmesan. The cheese has a nicer fluffier texture to it rather than gritty little chunks when using a more traditional grater. I also noticed that the cheese melts faster and just looks a whole lot more pleasing than lots of odd looking tiny chunks on my plate.
Even Nutmeg is easily grated quickly. Just running the microplane grater zester over an orange, lemon or lime is no bother. It removes just the right amount of zest every time.
wetter foods like zests, will need to be manualy removed from the backside of the grater as it does tend to stick.
When grating chocolate, I found it easier when it is cold.
In closing, the Microplane Grater Zester works well.
It can be used straight over your plate or oever the pan when cooking.
It usually rests nicely on the top of most of my bowls, and does not look out of place when using at the table when entertaining.
The only down side I can think of with the microplane grater zester, is the cleaning. It is very easy to catch the towel on the sharp edges when drying it.
All in all I think 10/10 for the microplane grater zester. I would recomend it to any one
